Ever seen a baby Hedgehog?

I received both of these photos via email. :-)

As soon as I saw the photos, I remember a weird experiment that I did on hedgehogs.

When we were kids, we used to have hedgehogs everywhere near our summer house, in Büyükçekmece ( Istanbul, Turkey). One day, I can't remember who but some elderly guy told us that hedgehogs are great swimmers... I was about 5, maybe 6 years old. I was surprised and wouldn't believe him. ofcourse, I was curious if they would swim...

Guess: what did we do? we got a large bucket filled with water and put the hedgehog in it. woooowww, it swims... you could also hear him breathing deeper than before... hmmm...

ok, now I know they swim... but what if they didn't swim, would I be able to tell and rescue it from drawning?

I can't say... I just feel lucky that I didn't kill that poor animal :-)
