Last Days

So I recently watched the new Gus Van Sant movie, Last Days. I'm not sure if it was because I'd been up since 4am and I hadn't really gotten much sleep or because the movie was that boring. But, my eyes kept shutting on me every now and then. The movie was good though, honestly.

It was like every Van Sant movie, where you follow around a character throughout the whole hour and a half and you know what's coming in the end and the moment just builds up more and more. Michael Pitt was perfect for the role. I'm not sure how much of it was improvised but he was brilliant. He can also sing quite well. So I'm just amazed and in love with the kid. It was kinda creepy though, the resemblence to Kurt Cobain, that is.

The movie is loosely based on him and there are moments where you can't tell if its Michael Pitt or Kurt Cobain. It was a really slow movie and it takes a lot of patience. Nothing new there, for anyone who has ever seen any of Mr.Van Sants movies before. Good movie, one of few that sticks out this year, thus far. And it'll definitely get you thinking about Kurt Cobain in the end and how tragic and sad his death was. Thumbs-up, go see.
