Miami Wedding Planning Advice

There are many complex tasks to solve throughout life such as buying a car or a house but I have to tell my girlfriends how such a pleasant experience of planning a wedding can be transformed to a nightmare. Yes, Bingo, I am getting MARRIED!!!

Let’s start with the first confrontation between me and ….. the Wedding Planner (who said you need one?) The preparations had to be made 1 or 2 years prior to the event. Am I crazy? or this is the most ridiculous idea I have ever heard. Of course, to be able to organize the enormous and expensive package they set up for everyone, you need probably 100 years to think about it and other 100 years to come up with the money. My advice to you girls is stand up and scream loud … No, No, and No !!!!!! That is exactly what I did. Isn’t your wedding anyway?

My concern was that I’ve never liked ballrooms. Therefore, I was looking for an outdoor location to have the ceremony and reception. Unfortunately, there is not such a place in Miami. There are only a couple of restaurants overlooking the bay but are either extremely expensive or they have been booked for over a year. Exhausted of not finding the perfect place I turned to my Wedding Planner for help. Well, she came up with a Ballroom decorated with enormous floral arrangements, nothing against it, but I don’t like it; a bored seat down meal reception and an hour of music. Yes, wedding ceremony, reception and dance have to fit in a four hour schedule. Can you imagine? (this is my fiancé’s favorite phrase). I was planning to celebrate until the sunrise.

This was the turning point of the wedding planning. I fired my wedding planer and I decided to do what I really wanted, an outdoor, informal, spontaneous and classic wedding. Armed with two tasteful friends and lots of ideas was the beginning of a pleasant journey. We found a gorgeous outdoor location (I will disclose the name after the wedding) and planned every detail as I always dreamed.

Do not be afraid to speak out and express your feelings. The wedding business is very lucrative and the wedding planners don’t like to go out of their ways to please the brides. They make you think they would do anything for you but at the end you will have to choose any of the expensive packages they prepared years ago. Don’t get me wrong, I am not against wedding planners as long as they understand that not all individuals like the classic and traditional wedding. There are people like me that don’t like to follow rules but still want to have fun.

Here I am, without a guest book, without brides maid, without a candle ceremony but having the wedding my way and marrying the most gorgeous men on earth.

Note: I promise you all to post some pictures of my wedding this coming November.
