Because of obivious reasons they had to change the bottle and the packaging of Yeni Raki. When I saw it I was very proud... It looked great, very modern, very Turkish... what do you think?

Some of you, asked me if it still tastes the same. Yes ofcourse it tastes the same. I guess you guys have not heard what happened. Couple dozens of people died from illegal Raki production last year. They all died within a week or two... So they stopped producing Yeni Raki and collected all Yeni Rakis from the market, so that they will found out the illegally produced Rakis.

After they came up with the new packaging, if anybody wants to produce raki illegally they have to buy some very expensive equipment to bottle those. The new bottle has alot of unique features that is very expensive to duplicate.

Finally, they have just changed the bottle, the label and the packaging; Not the taste or the raki itself...

For those who don't know what Raki is:
It's a Turkish origin anise-flavored liqueur (achololic beverage). It has different types like Ouzo (Greek), Arak (Arabic / Persian), Mastica (Bulgarian) and many more that you can find mainly in the Balkans and Mediterranean.

Yeni Raki means "New Raki" which is the main brand in the Turkish market. Nowadays, there are many other companies producing raki such as Efe Raki, Tekirdag Raki ...

If you want to taste this drink, please make sure you have a Turkish someone with you or someone who had drank it before. It's pretty strong 45%-55% Alcohol. Tastes very nice, so you don't feel it until it's too late.
