He wants you for a Green Card?
Once upon a time, there was a small girl that dreamed of true love like all the little girls who watch disney movies. She had visions of being a Princess who would one day meet her Prince from a faraway land like in the fairy tales. She always loved watching romantic movies. You know the ones that entice you from childhood like Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast and Snow White. Those thoughts never fade because for the older girls who love movies like the Sound of Music, all the way to Braveheart and the Last Samurai. Movies like these inspired her to know her "Prince" is out there somewhere and she "will find him" but he's just faraway in another land.
She met many Princes in her juvenile to college years. Never was it the Prince in Shining armor on their beautiful horse, but rather, "wannabe men" on their rusty armor atop their poor donkeys. The truth and reality of unsuitable guys in her past relationship were that timing was just off. For a good reason it was this way, she had to get through the thorns to get to the Rose. This reality was becoming a disappointment so she soon gave up on love till last year.
She was chatting with an ex-boyfriend on an online chat when she glanced down and saw an ad in the school newspaper, barely noticing it but advertised as a Study Abroad Trip to Spain! Oh how this ignited passion within her, for a "lusty love affair!" Venus quickly clicked out of her ex-boyfriend's chat and thought of the possibilities of things to do in Spain. She imagined studying next to her newly found boyfriend of a foreign land. Venus' daydreaming about Siestas and studying in Spain soared, but a week later in March of 2004, news came of train station bombings in Madrid during that time The bubble bursted and she was forced to search for another way to live this "Fantasy Abroad" in search of finally finding her Prince.
She chose the program that allowed her to travel to 10 cities in 6 countries. This way the odds of the terrorists hitting the same city twice would be less likely to happen, so she hoped. Venus studied abroad and went out with her new classmates, her new partners in crime. She visited many accomplished companies and markets like Lloyds of London, a French Champagne company, visited the Monaco shores, toured the Alps of Innsbruck, Austria and saw the awesome German castles.
That was just the beginning of success of the trip! Venus found the nights in the pubs a bore because she couldn't danced and she did the unlikely and drank Chimay! She hooked up with classmates, one southern boy, another guy that was engaged although it was only a kiss, the 600 kinds of Belgium beer were to blame. She also kissed some girl in O'Reily's Irish Pub ironically in Brussels, Belgium. She was tired of watching her classmate, who was flirting with her and he had no skills and was too shy to do it. In France "ooh la la, " She met this beautiful half South African and French guy at a Metro subway stop and by nightfall, after drinking some of the famous Piper-Heidseick Champagne they could be seen outside the Evergreen Laurel Hotel, where the rest of her class was staying. She and the beautiful French African import, were making love by Le Seine River just after coming back from the Eiffel tower. As her travels brought her down to the south of France, she left the group while they were in another boring pub and went with a beautiful stranger to skinny dip in the Meditteranean. It was under the curious full moon that came so low that night to see the sexy siren and the French Morrocan splashing away and playing in the water having sex on the pebbled beach of Nice, France. The escapades of sexuality were reaching a plateau but last and not least after thinking nothing could get better than France, along came her Prince. She finally met the man of my dreams in Innsbruck, Austria! So she thought at the time.
With all the sex and European lifestyle she had had by then, one would have thought she had reached a plateau. Nothing could have topped that romantic scale, till Venus met him. After a Magical Night with him, she never touched or thought of another man. He was the one that satisfied her needs, spiritually, emotionally, and intensely. It's a sense of understanding that was beyond all. They didn't understand each other's language yet understood each other in the rawest of ways in their own primative tongue, yet the most barberic and romantic way. The study program included only one more country she could have looked forward to running a sex rampage with condoms of course, but she remained as celebate as a nun after him. All she could think about was the "One!" He was Venus' Prince back in Austria. She was suddenly feeling like Julie Andrews in the Sound of Music movie she had watched over and over as a little girl.
She came back after a month in Europe and all of that time, all she could think about was him. The Turkish - Austrian Prince.
Alas, the fat lady had sang, she saw pigs fly, the Earth shook. He was the truly one she was born for and vice versa as it felt.
Out of all Venus had romanced with, he was the only one she knew was compatible with her. The only problem was they couldn't communicate on many more levels as she would have liked because she knew English, and he knew German, Turkish and Italian. Ah so what, she gave it a couple of months and learned Turkish and with the help of my great friend named Tarok. They kept the fire burning and the dream alive. Soon they saw each other again when she revisited Austria, once, twice, many times and he asked Venus to marry him. His family even helped translate for him. They all loved each other. The Prince and Princess were finally engaged. She could see angels around her and the World was a better place.
Until the record stopped.....
A quick reality check began when her friends, family, and parents quickly thought of reasons why not to be with this Prince. First because he was foreign. All because she was born in the United States, marrying a foreigner was viewed as giving away a green card for free when others could pose a marriage to a stranger in exchange for $10,000 USD. Yes, this happens alot among minorities and U.S. citizen weddings. That beautiful relationship came to an end and although Venus moved on, everytime she dated someone there on after, her relationships were scrutinized if he happened to have an accent you could sure bet she'd hear people asking her, "oh is he trying to get a green card?" Many people in America face it, if you marry a foreigner. It's always in the back of some U.S. citizen's minds because they worry that you will give up your most valuable possession by marrying a foreigner, your citizenship. What ever happened to just being happy a couple is giving each other their hearts. America is not the only country people want to come to anymore. Canada is! Any big transition would be a sacrificing one so the next time people get married and one partner is not a U.S. citizen, people should change their thinking.
People need to stop worrying about the risks with love. Especially over a green card she thought. She loves living the verses in the song, "Que Sera, Sera, whatever will be will be, the Future's not ours to see Que Sera, Sera!" You know the future is bright out there but the trip there is fun and mysterious. Venus knows in her heart that he was certainly her Prince for a moment in time.
Nevertheless, there is nothing to worry about because there are many Far Away Lands, which means there are many more Princes for Venus to meet!
