When Your Car Drives Toward Water - Stay Calm

Over 300 people are estimated to die each year from drowning in a car. Yes, it's true! I heard it on the news and they had quoted that from some Federal Statistic Bureau. What is one to do when this happens?

Numero Uno is to not panic! Now I know it's easier said than done but putting this to use will come in handy. After that you can remember to take off the seat belt.

A news anchor under went through this scenerio in a controlled environment with four divers and 12 paramedics waiting around was told not to panic but when he tried to open the window nothing happened, he went into a state of shock and fear. Had the safety team not been there, he would have drowned with a broken and bloody wrist. They rescued him and found that he was bleeding from trying to open the door.

If he fought the implulse to open the door right away and waited until the car was alittle more submerged in order to equalize the pressure, it would have been easier to open the door. In the case that there is a child, one should open the door and get the child out first then follow them to the surface. It is not easy to remember all this but just remember panicking will get you no where. As they said "staying calm can save your life."
