Global Gathering after thoughts...just a little bitter.

Global Gathering after thoughts...just a little bitter.

I can assure you that most that attended Global Gathering, if not all, were there for Nine Inch NailS. Hell, that's why I was there! C'mon, when was the last time NIN was in Florida? That's right, kiddo, it's been a while. But wait, let's recap the month of October, 2005. If you remember, as I do, NIN was scheduled to come down and play October 24th...but of course, with our luck, Hurricane Wilma hit and destruction happened. Power went out for weeks and/or months for others. This, of course, was bad news for us NIN fans. And although we all figured that it just be postponed and he'd come back around. No, instead it was cancelled. DAMNIT, I say, damnit. It was sad, sad news for those of us that had been anticipating NIN- especially if you had boughten a ticket. It probably hurt 'cha a whole lot more if you actually scored floor seats. Yes, I was one of them. Now, look, I don't mean to sound bitchy and whiney about it, but c'mon....after goin' through that hurricane, goin' through nights of sleeping with no a/c, in Florida, mind you. Oh, the torture we went through, sucked. After all that, did we not, deserve to see NIN? Indeed, we did.

You're probably thinking, gee, what an ungrateful little [beep!] You're probably thinking, HEY, DID YA FORGET GLOBAL GATHERING?! No, I say. No, I did not forget. In fact, I've been replaying that night in my head over and over again...whilst I'm at work, yes. Heh, heh.

The thing is, to wait around for October of last year to see NIN, and then have to wait another 4 months....just really sucks. And, too add more to my little rant here...let me just say that, seeing NIN at a festival like Global Gathering, just isn't the same. It starts at 11am, and NIN comes on stage at around 9pm. So, what's the big deal? So, why not just show up an hour or thirty minutes before they come on stage, (if it bothered ya that much) and not have to stand around in the heat, or sit through hours and hours of bands and djs that you just don't like? Not a bad idea. Except for the fact that NIN only played for an hour and maybe like, thirty minutes...and might I add, NO ENCORE. Are you kidding me?! I've waited around for months, to get an hour set and no encore. Unbelievable! In total, Nine Inch Nails has officially about 25 albums...this is including remixes and singles...and then there's about 5 soundtracks they did a song for. Now, I'm not saying that Trent Reznor didn't absolutely blow me away with his performance and that I didn't go nuts in the moshpit when he played 'March of the Pigs' and 'Head like a hole' because I went sooo nuts, right. But it was over way too soon and left a lot of fans, such as myself, dissatisfied. It just doesn't seem right to get only an hour of NIN. Which explains why he mixed in songs here and there- he had to squeeze in as much as he could, because of such short time. What can I say? Musicians are d*cks. I expected for Nine Inch Nails to come back this year, and headline their own tour, again. Just to please us Floridians that missed out on NIN due to Lil' Ms.Wilma. I expected to have floor seats again. I expected, I wished, I hoped for- so much more. Ungrateful? No. Just dissatisfied and disappointed.

Recap! Radiohead, October 4th, 2004...an encore of three-four songs....now that's the way to please your fans. =)

Wait, wait. I'm not gonna stop this article just yet. I can't skip out on all of those other amazing bands and djs. Actually, I'm gonna pretty much skip through 'em all, because I either didn't care to see their performance, or I just simply wasn't impressed by these bands. Crystal Method, however, I must mention...because they did put on a pretty good set. Aside from all the technical problems that screwed with their set a couple of times. They were great, you couldn't stand around and not dance. You, FELT THE MUSIC.

Before I take a step back and end this article, I wanna highlight AVENGED SEVENFOLD. Brilliant performance...one too many insane guitar riffs and solos that got the crowd jumpin and stompin, movin and....groovin? Possibly! I couldn't careless if they so-called sold out, changed record labels, and are currently being played on MTVs TRL. There is nothing medicore about this band. Dedicating a cover of Panteras 'walk' to the late guitar player Dimebag Darrell, was incredible to hear that live...it started about five moshpits and my ears, yes, they're still ringing. Rock n' Roll !
